Creating a Dirt Cheap Science Fair Project
with The Dirtmeister!
If you are looking for a radically different idea for a science fair project, or if you just like to “mess around with stuff”, then this is the program for you!

Join science celebrity and award winning author Steve “The Dirtmeister” Tomecek for an entertaining look at how to create a totally awesome science fair project using “dirt cheap” materials commonly found around the house.
In addition to discussing the proper procedures for setting up a scientific investigation, Steve will also demonstrate how materials such as sandwich bags, coffee cans, Rice Krispees, soda bottles and even toilet plungers can be put to use in designing an award winning science project. Following the program, Steve will be signing copies of some of his books including Coffee Can Science, Sandwich Bag Science, Soda Bottle Science, Dirt, and What A Great Idea. This program is ideally suited for children in grades k-6 and their parents.

Stephen M. Tomecek (a.k.a. If you think you’ve heard of Steve before, it’s probably because you have! Steve was the writer and host of Phantastic Physical Phenomena, an Emmy Award winning public television series. For eight years, he was also the science host for WNYC’s New York Kids Radio Show.
Steve has written more than three dozen science books including Soda Bottle Science, Coffee Can Science, Teaching Science Yes You Can and What A Great Idea, all published by Scholastic.
