In cooperation with Friends for Life Foundation, children's author DANA L. PERRI will speak about and sign her award-winning picture book, The Grumpy Frog.

In this beautifully illustrated picture book, Rana the frog is suddenly awakened by singing birds. With a quick, thoughtless response, he grumpily tells them to be quiet. Along comes Lulu, the beautiful, wise bird, who helps him realize the importance of thinking before you speak or act out. The book is unique in its simple and direct story, its vibrant and bold illustrations and the questions at the end, which help children to verbalize their feelings.

The Grumpy Frog is a celebrated winner of the iParenting Media Award and is the first book in a series entitled Think...then Jump™, which encourages children to make a mindful splash in life.

The Friends for Life Foundation focuses on the needs of its members who are breast cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, volunteers and of course… their Kids for Life kids! Members who are currently going through treatment not only benefit from the many free services and guest speaker sessions that are offered, but they also benefit from the friendships formed, the positive and warm social environment and the inspiration that the members provide one another. Being able to socialize and have fun together helps those who have dealt with (or may still be dealing with) breast cancer treatment a bit more bearable. Friends for Life members are special men, women and children who look forward to being together to talk, learn, exercise, meditate or to simply connect to have some laughs and to be with others who share a common bond.

Ms. Perri is a breast cancer survivor. Portions of the book sales from this event will be donated to Friends for Life Foundation. There will be games and activities for the children after storytime as well as a Gift Basket raffle for the adults.
